One Propellor Employee Is Very Sad Today :(

The Bucs are bad (sad), Hail Mary plays are lawless, and LeBron is old.

Happy Friday! This is the fourth edition of our weekly newsletter, which is intended to be a 5-minute read from across the sports landscape, with an emphasis on fantasy sports, sports betting, and company updates as we build the Propellor Daily Fantasy Sports platform.

Fun Fact: Last NBA season, Udonis Haslem was the oldest player in the league and averaged 3.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, 0 assists, 0.1 steals and 0.3 blocks in 10.3 minutes per game in 7 total games played. This season, Lebron James is the oldest player in the league and averaging 21-8-7-1.5-1 in 32 minutes per game in just 2 games.

Here’s what we’ve got for you today:

TNF Football Recap

Final Score: Buffalo Bills 24, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 18

We’re not going to lie: This wasn’t the most exciting Thursday Night Football game we’ve ever watched. But it was exciting in the end at least for betting purposes, as the Bucs somehow converted not one, not two, but three fourth downs on a 17-play, 92-yard touchdown drive (along with a two-point conversion off a tipped pass) to get within the number.

Josh Allen (324 passing yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT) went way over his passing yardage market of 265.5, while Baker Mayfield (237 passing yards) went over his total on his final pass of the night. Bills RB James Cook (67 rushing yards) surpassed his rushing market as well, on only 14 carries.

Perhaps the most exciting play of the game was the final one: a Hail Mary that looked like it hit an improbably wide open Chris Godwin right in the hands. If only he had looked up…

A note about the Hail Mary.. Why? Why do all rules go out the window here? You can just do whatever you want. If you’re a defender on a Hail Mary pass and you’re not putting receivers in a full nelson you should have to run laps at practice.

Week 7 NFL Fantasy Leaders

Travis Kelce, TE, Kansas City Chiefs (35.9 points)

The latest Mr. Taylor Swift had a monster game against Kansas City’s AFC West rivals – the Los Angeles Chargers – with 12 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown. Plus, he was responsible for many cutaways to T Swift in the luxury box, so bonus points for the Swifties who are new here.

Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens (33.88 points)

When Lamar starts to get it going on the ground, watch out. Jackson was terrific through the air on Sunday’s blowout 38-6 win over the Lions, going an efficient 21-of-27 for 357 yards and 3 TDs; he added 36 yards rushing and a TD as well. That Todd Monken offense in Baltimore might be starting to get it going.

Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs (33.86 points)

Well, someone has to throw Taylor Swift’s boyfriend the ball, otherwise she will dump him. Mahomes was his usual phenomenal self in Sunday’s 31-17 win, throwing for 424 yards and 4 TD (with one INT) and adding 29 yards on the ground – several of which picked up key first downs.

Interesting Week 8 Player Markets

Ok, well, after a 3-0 start in this section, we stunk it up with an 0fer last week. Here’s how we get it alllll back.

Tony Pollard UNDER 67.5 rushing yards

Pollard has gone under his rushing yardage market in four of six games, and against a good Los Angeles Rams defense, it’s hard to see him getting to this number.

Jahmyr Gibbs OVER 65.5 rushing yards

Gibbs is back in the lineup, and has surpassed his rushing yardage total in four of five games. The Lions are big favorites against the Las Vegas Raiders and should be running the ball in the fourth quarter protecting a lead.

Rashee Rice OVER 41.5 receiving yards

Patrick Mahome is starting to look more for the second-rounder from SMU, who has at least five targets in five of Kansas City’s seven games. Look for him to get past this number against a suspect Denver defense that could be dealing some key pieces before Tuesday’s trade deadline.
